La verdad es que estas revisiones extensas de las versiones nos ayudan mucho apara ir detectando errores y se agradecen.

Y por último… te voy a confiar un secreto.
El UsbTray… está obsoleto.
Lo estamos manteniendo en estas versiones para que haya algo que ayude al usuario a gestionar los USB. Pero, realmente, no va a quedar, porque UsbTray, depende de otro programa, IvMan, que se dejó de programar hace tiempo.
En resumen, que para las próximas K-DEMar, tanto UsbTray como IvMan desaparecerán, porque hay algo, que también hemos hecho nosotros, que va bastante mejor. Pero… como decían en el concurso “1 2 3″… Hasta aquí puedo leer.

El tema de los strings… weno… ya lo conozco. Te he respondido el otro post ( http://blog.k-demar.org/2008/11/18/version-de-prueba-disponible-47/comment-page-1/#comment-1645 ) sobre esto…
Enfin, espero que en poco, os podamos ofrecer un paquete DEB, para instalar el nuevo CADI hecho con QT4, que aunque haga exactamente lo mismo que éste, ya tenga la nueva interfaz de traducción, que ayuda mucho a los desarrolladores.
Igualmente, no cabe decir, que una buena lista de los strings catalanes que os encontráis, nos iría mu bien. (mandada a suport[arroba]k-demar[punto]org)

Lo de la distro Only KDE… me parece mu buena idea. Así que estamos preparando la estructura interna de paquetes para hacerlo todo de manera fácil… y en breve tendremos resultados.

Una vez más, nos ayudan mucho esta clase de reportes y esperemos que no te canses demasiado en hacerlos

We know that K-DEMar is not perfect, and for this reason, we’re open to new changes that anyone can tell us.

1: English language support:
I know that isn’t good, but… we need a native english person to have a perfect english translation. If you want to collabore with us, we’re insterested in.
At least, we’ll need a list of places/strings that aren’t translated. (now we’re using deprecated wxgtk technology) and translations are very dificult for us. We’re migrating to pyqt4 technology and translations are very easy, for this reason “instalador 5″ is fully translated to english. (I say “fully translated”, because, if we want a perfect translation, a english person have to make some modifications.

In entry menus, we need a list of entries that aren’t translated.

2: bug in 4.6.1 of GRUB:
Is corrected in 4.7?

3: the KDEMAR control center is still in catalan/spanish:
The same of point 1.
We need an english person that help us to internationalize our distro. We accept any kind of help.

4: the repositories of KDEMAR.

Hardware: portátil Packard Bell Easynote W7056, centrino 2GHZ con trajeta de video Nvidia Geforce Go 6600 de 256mb separados.Más detalles en las respectivas secciones.

INSTALACION. Bien, aunque la primera pantalla del instalador está en catalán pese a seleccionar castellano.

ESPACIO OCUPADO EN HD.Bien. 2,2gb iniciales, más que correctos dados los programas que instala.

TIEMPO DE ARRANQUE. Mal.80 segundos desde GRUB hasta carga del KDE con autologin. PClinux 2008 lo hace en 52 seg, Ubuntulite 8.04+KDE (mi sistema) en 42 seg, SIDUX 2008.3 en 37segundos, Windows XP 37 segundos. La CPU se va al 100% en varios puntos del arranque.El tiempo de parada, bien.

RAM. Muy bien, 135mb iniciales (no cachés)

SISTEMA GRAFICO.Regular. Se cargó automáticamente el driver Nvidia, pero no eligió ni permitió elegir la resolución correcta 1440×900. Este problema ya se daba en la versión beta. Nvidia settings no actualizó el xorg.conf ni al ordenárselo. Configurado xorg.conf a mano, la resolución OK.

GESTION DE ENERGIA.Bien. CPU scaling funcionando en liveCD y en instalación. Apagado de pantalla, suspensión y otras, sin probar.

AUDIO. Tarjeta Realtek ALC260. Bien, sin novedad.

LECTOR DE TARJETAS.Regular.Texas Instruments. Corregido el error de la versión beta que no permitía desmontar. Pero ahora da un error “el dispositivo se desmontó correctamente, pero no se pudo expulsar”. No sé si hay lectores con expulsión mecánica, el mío no la tiene, y otras distros (Kubuntu) no dan ese error.

TARJETA DE TV. Mal.Lifeview DVB-T Duo Mini, con chipset Phillips SAA713X.Este chipset puede funcionar con el módulo saa7134. En la versión beta funcionaba perfectamente; en Kaffeine se detectaba un dispositivo DVB, sintonizar y punto. Ahora ya no se detecta, aunque los módulos aparecen cargados.Creé un archivo modprobe.conf en modprobe.d definiendo las opciones del módulo saa7134 y seleccionando el sintonizador, pero nada. El firmware correcto (tda10046h) está en /lib/firmware, así que por ahí no viene el problema.

PAQUETERIA. Muy bien. Veo que pusisteis un chorro de repositorios activados por defecto; me gusta.Y además, no queda otro remedio…esto va por lo que dice el amigo del post anterior.

La mayoría de los strings en catalán han sido corregidos; queda aparte del que ya mencioné uno en el CADI (“preferencies generales”) aunque este es un detalle menor.

Mi valoración final es positiva, pero la regresión en lo de la tarjeta de TV me ha enfriado bastante. Y el tiempo de arranque superando ampliamente el minuto es ya un problema.

Una sugerencia: estaría bien una versión CD con un KDE pelado, todos los drivers pero sin programas, al estilo de PClinux Minime, para poder construir un sistema con los elementos justos. Con los mismos programas, he tenido sistemas de 3gb, 2,4 gb y e incluso 1600mb, que es el que tengo ahora. Ya sabéis a que me refiero; a que por mucho que se desinstale y mucho deborfan y demás que se use, siempre hay que cargar con un webo de soft que no interesa.

I have used almost all versions of KDEMar and they are fine but many problems.

1: English language support is not fully working, even though you install in English still many menu enteries are still in Catalan or Spanish and needs manual correction.

2: there was a bug in 4.6.1 installer as it will not install GRUB .

3: the KDEMAR control center is still in catalan/spanish even if system is in english so it is useless for english language people.

4: the repositories selection for KDEMAR is very odd, both stable and unstable repositories are mixed together which breaks a system. For debian it should be a clear policy to choose which type of repositories.

I discussed with people in IRC #debain about KDEMAR repos and they rejected this choice. This thing has to be addressed.

I am downloading the 4.7 version now and will report any issues when i find.
